My September Birchbox review…

Welcome, Fall! I love this time of year and was excited to get some products that screamed “beautiful leaves!” with a little “boot weather!” on the side (an apple peel and bright orange nail polish). Without further ado, here’s my Birchbox for the month:

Main

Beauty Protector, Protect & Shampoo

Beauty Protector, Protect & Condition

Both the shampoo and conditioner smell wonderful! I seemed to have fewer fly-aways when styling my hair after using these products. Since I used them in combination I’m not sure if the fewer fly-aways is from both products or if you could get away with using one without the other. Regardless, my hair was soft and smelled lovely.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive

I like the Juice Beauty brand and was excited to see this in my box and eager to try it! I was surprised by the consistency. I was expecting a thickness to a peel, almost like a mask with a gelatinous consistency, but it was much thinner – almost like a face wash. Immediately upon application the peel tingled and I wasn’t sure I was going to like it. The tingling was short-lived, however, and I forgot it was even on. I left it on the prescribed 10 minutes (maybe a little bit more – oops!) and rinsed it off. My face felt maybe slightly dry but otherwise I haven’t noticed any difference. So although I wouldn’t say it dried out my skin, I didn’t see any vast improvement in…well, anything, so I wasn’t motivated to continue using it or purchase it.

Ruffian Nail Lacquer, Color: Fox Hunt

This is a beautiful orange color with a slight pink tint to it. When I first applied it, it appeared more pink than I would have thought from the bottle. Then as it dried it turned more orangey. It has held up very well through numerous showers, training for a half marathon (my poor feet), and a few flip flop days.

Soak Rinse-Free Wash

Maybe I’m the only one that doesn’t hand wash my delicates…? I did try this wash and really liked it though. It smelled good (not too strong, but very fresh) and doesn’t require rinsing after soaking for 15 minutes. At first I was a little off-put by this (why would I soap something without rinsing it?) but it was so fast and left my items soft and clean, which makes me more inclined to give them extra TLC.

In conclusion I will say that I think the Fox Hunt nail polish was my favorite item. The orange color really got me [more] excited for Fall. Hope you are enjoying the crisp weather and Fall flavors! Thanks for checking in on my box!
